WHAT IS AN AME (AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING)?
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) is a licensing program in which a candidate must complete a 2-year academic program at an AME training school approved by the DGCA, Government of India.
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) involves inspecting aircraft before flight, testing and troubleshooting aircraft systems. After taking admission in AME training schools, the candidate will gain knowledge of aircraft and related systems. Aircraft have various systems, such as the hydraulic, air-conditioning, pressurisation, avionics, landing gear, and propulsion systems. In two years, students are supposed to undergo both theoretical and practical training.
Admission Criteria for AME ADMISSION
To take admission in AME, a candidate should satisfy the following criteria.
- Applicant should be 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, or equivalent, an AICTE-approved 3-year engineering diploma in any stream or any higher qualification in science with Physics and Mathematics at the time of admission.
- Applicants who are eligible for admission in B.Tech Courses are also eligible for the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering program.
- Colour Blindness vision should be normal, and there should be no physical disabilities.
WHAT IS AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING?
Aeronautics involves the design, development, and construction of aircraft, commonly known as aeroplanes.
Aeronautical engineers are primarily responsible for developing safer, more energy-efficient, and more cost-effective methods of travel, including aircraft, helicopters, satellites, missiles, and spacecraft. These include the science of propulsion and aerodynamics, as well as the development and selection of materials and equipment used in aircraft.
Aero Engineers are part of the designing process to make the fastest vehicle. E.g., Aeroplanes that weigh over a million pounds can take off into the air, and spacecraft travel at 17.000 miles per hour.
WHAT AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERS DO?
Aeronautical engineers bring a concept into reality by emphasising the design of aerofoils (wings). Propulsion is another aspect in aeronautical engineering. The force of propulsion helps an aeroplane to remain in flight, and encompasses the design and development of engines. These two basic principles are considered when choosing the material for aircraft design, strength and weight. Selection of material is a crucial area of specialisation for aeronautical engineering.
As an Aeronautical Engineering graduate, you can specialise in any areas, including Structural designing, Flight mechanics and control systems, Aerodynamics, Instrumentation and communication, Manufacturing and maintenance.
WHAT IS THE INTEGRATED PROGRAM OF AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING & AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING?
An integrated course is a combined B.Tech (Aeronautical Engineering) and Aircraft Maintenance Engineering program, in which students will appear for two separate examinations to obtain the Degree and License. Both the courses will be running parallel to each other, at the end of four years students will have both B.Tech (Aeronautical Engineering) & Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, their by making him eligible for both manufacturing as well Maintenance jobs related to aircrafts. This will also enhance placement probabilities, as we will be able to apply to all types of jobs in the aviation industry, whether manufacturing- or maintenance-related.
Nature of Job
Mechatronics is a new, interdisciplinary field that combines precision mechanical engineering, electronic control, and systems thinking in the design of products and manufacturing processes. That is, it rejects splitting engineering into separate disciplines. Originally, it included only the combination of mechanics and electronics; hence, the word is a combination of mechanics and electronics: Mechatronics. However, as technical systems have become increasingly complex, the word has been broadened to include more technical areas.
ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION INTO B.TECH (AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING / MECHATRONICS ENGINEERING) & INTEGRATED COURSE OF AERONAUTICAL & AME PROGRAM.
Applicant should be 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, or equivalent, an AICTE-approved 3-year engineering diploma in a relevant stream or any higher qualification in science with Physics and Mathematics at the time of admission. Percentage requirement is as per AICTE norms.
WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING / AME / INTEGRATED COURSE OF AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING + AME?
- Engineers in the Aviation sector are considered high-calibre professionals with excellent compensation packages. In India, there is a skill shortage of aircraft engineers. The number of jobs in the Aviation sector exceeds the available trained, employable manpower.
- These are the following factors why a candidate should join Aviation Courses:
- India is the fastest-growing aviation market in the world
- Air traffic growth is 25% annually, with more than 1,100 new aircraft orders in the pipeline.
- International players in aviation are opening new ventures. The main reason is the availability of trained and skilled labour.
- India will become an MRO Hub; Boeing and Airbus will establish their MRO operations there. The MROs will require more Aircraft Engineers (Aeronautical Engineers & AME), so the demand for Aeronautical Engineers & AME will increase.
- Uber plans to launch Air Taxi in India by 2020.
- Qatar Airways, along with other airlines, is in the pipeline to bring more than 100 aircraft to India.
- There is already a shortage of aircraft engineers (Aeronautical Engineers & AME) in the World. There is a requirement of 7,54,000 trained manpower worldwide.
- The UDAN scheme is boosting careers in aviation (Aeronautical Engineering & AME). The UDAN Scheme makes airfare more affordable for the general public. The sharp increase in domestic passenger traffic is evident, leading to a rise in Aviation Jobs (aeronautical engineering and AME).
- India is the third-largest aviation market in the world, after America and China. India comprises hardworking, passionate people who can make India proud. Career opportunities for Aeronautical Engineers and AME are increasing.
- India took its first step toward manufacturing civil aircraft, which increased opportunities for Aircraft Engineers.
- India has become the leading market for investment, as its aviation sector is developing rapidly. All this results in an increase of jobs in the Aviation Sector (Aeronautical Engineers & AME)
